I’ll be able to get better pictures when I’m home tomorrow, but from what she told me, she was at her friend’s new house, and when pulling into the driveway, she ran over a large landscaping rock that her friend had in her garden. Apparently the S60 dropped off of the rock and she heard a loud crunch. The passenger door is apparently difficult to open, and is bent down in the corner. What worries me the most is that the area that is bent in is the area of the car that is ultra high strength steel, which I’d assume is pretty difficult to repair. I’ll give an update after I get some estimates on Monday. On the bright side, at least it’s a lease, and my mother really isn’t that upset about it.

Ouch. That looks painful.
And no I can’t imagine that being an easy fix.

Yep. She called and said that she just did about $1,000 in damage to her car. I told her to send a pic, and called her back laughing saying that there was no way in hell that that would be fixable for $1,000.

They will ding her at turn-in for sure. See if the car tracks straight - if it is out of alignment you may have to have it stretched out.

That looks like a box section too so you can’t pull it out like a regular dent.

She's gonna file an insurance claim and hopefully get it fixed.

Is that just the plastic trim that's damaged?

Yep. I'll see how bad it is in person, but I'm thinking it'll be worse.

From the looks of things, the frame that it's mounted to is pushed in several inches with the metal fender too.

“Might” be able to file an insurance claim if need be.
My friend with a Jetta hopped a curb and bottomed out, messed up oil pan and suspension, and was able to file a comprehensive claim to get it fixed.

Have her friend pay for half the damages for having rocks in such silly places as to be easily run over.

That's most likely what she's gonna do.

Get it fixed now instead of the end of the lease cause they tend to rape you with charges

I damaged a car like that once (slid on an icy road and went over a frozen berm) and it wrinkled the roof over the RR door. So check the roof panel.

I'm 3 hours away, but luckily heading home tomorrow for spring break. I'll look over the whole car thoroughly as soon as I get home.
